Africa . It was at the September edition of monthly comedy show Stand Up
Nigeria a project of Afrotainment Production, produced by Bunmi Davies. As early as 6pm guests had arrived the venue waiting for the celebrity of the night, the programme kicked off at exactly 7pm, when the host comedian Princess mounted the stage to welcome the guests, she later invited Aje Baba an upcoming comedian to set the ball rolling , Aje’s performance was scintillating, his performance paved way for Shon Pee also a talented upcoming comedian and many others like Charles EDO, Mc Pato, Mc Shakara, Cry Pikin And Kenny blind, though this guy can’t see, his jokes are out of this world. The guests had more than what they paid for , Some of them wished the show could be extended till the following day as they were reluctant to leave the hall, one of the guests have this to say: “ this is my third time of attending stand up Nigeria , and I must confess this edition is the bomb” Kenny Fakorede. The high point of the night was the presentation of an award to Kelani by the CEO of Afrotainment , for his outstanding contribution to the Nigerian Movie Industry over the years , there was also a question and answer segment where Kelani was asked why he is not producing Tv drama series and he responded by saying he wouldn’t want to do something that will not catch peoples’ attention( ie a talk of the town
television series) “for I just want to leave the tv for the tv people” According to Bunmi Davies the show was established to showcase talents and to celebrate Nigerians who have contributed immensely to the showbiz industry in Nigeria, in the words of the spoke person for the organizer Olujuwon Bukunola –Philips,
Stand Up Nigeria is the classiest comedy show that happens in the country every month, since inception last year many talented and creative Nigerians have been honored these include Stella Damasucus, Lagabaja, Julius Agwu, Jimmy Jatt, Joke silver, Femi Sowoolu among others. The host for the night Princess, gave good account of herself, the show which was well attended comes up again on the 31
st October, 2009 at the same venue
